Walt Weiss currently serves as faculty in the Physical Therapy Neurologic Residency for Brooks Rehabilitation. His course focuses on utilizing gait analysis to target treatment and maximize recovery for individuals after stroke. He has trained at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center for the past 27 years as a master clinician, instructor, researcher, and mentor. Under the guidance of Dr. Jacquelin Perry, Mr. Weiss served several years in Rancho’s Pathokinesiology Laboratory where he coordinated two nationally funded research grants (NIDDR, NIH) studying rehabilitation, recovery and bracing for individuals with hemiparesis after stroke. Mr. Weiss is the Clinical Director of the University of Southern California/Rancho Los Amigos Residency in Neurologic Physical Therapy.

Mr. Weiss is an internationally recognized expert in gait analysis and intervention to maximize motor recovery. His popular continuing education courses and presentations for the APTA combine his expertise in patient management and determining the maximum challenge point, with his first-hand knowledge of the research evidence.
Mr. Weiss holds an adjunct faculty position in the Department of Physical Therapy and Biokinesiology at the University of Southern California. He also serves as a guest lecturer for the Department of Physical Therapy at Mount St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles. His courses cover patient management for the client with neurologic deficits, as well as gait and movement analysis.
Mr. Weiss currently serves as Instructor and Chief Gait instructor at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey, California. He is Associate Director of Education and Professional Development for the Physical Therapy Department. Mr. Weiss completed a 3 year term with the Nominating Committee for the Neurology Section of the APTA in 2010. Mr. Weiss was the 2007 recipient of the Award for Clinical Excellence in Neurology by the Neurology Section of the American Physical Therapy Association.
